In order to shorten your learning curve here are some things you need to know that can causes failure.
1. Telling your prospect the name of your company during your initial interaction with them.
2. Mentioning your upline without a purpose (Details later)
3. Offering to pay for a prospects drink or lunch (Yes people do this believe it or not!)
4. Talk about your comp plan and the product more than how you yourself can actually help your prospect. (It’s not about your product it’s about YOU!)
5. Having too much dependency on your up-line.
6. Passing out your company’s generic card. (This brands your company not you.)
7. Promoting that there are openings in your opportunity (It’s a business not a job)
8. Driving an insane distance to talk to a prospect. (Your prospects should be coming to you not the other way around.)
9. Asking your prospect “What time is good for you” (You’re letting your prospect control the situation)
Every single mistake I mentioned above makes you appear needy to your prospects. In any relationship, the one who cares least holds the most power.
In order to build a successful business, you need to be the key to other’s success, when you do this you will attract others because you can offer a solution to their problems.
When you make the decision to go drive 5 towns over to meet a prospect or you buy your prospect lunch or a drink, all you’re really doing is pushing them further away. On a unconscious level you are giving them the impression that you need to treat them well for them to approve of you. When you appear needy your prospects will run the other way.
In network marketing, people will never join your business because the product or comp plan. They want to join someone who has value and is a leader in their eyes. Attraction is not a choice and never will be. When you display confidence and leadership your prospect will see it. (They will even feel it unconsciously) When you create attraction you hold total control and you can sign up prospects at will.
In most cases we are taught to praise about our successful up-line and promote them to prospects. (If your brand new then this is what you should be doing) The majority of people who do this fail to set themselves up as the bridge.
You should only mention successful up-lines that you have built some type of relationship with. In order to set yourself up as the bridge is by simply having your prospect go through you before they can work with that up-line.
You can even say something like this “John Hancock is very successful and you can work your way up to work directly with him. Now I have a good relationship with him that I can ask for help. Join me with confidence because I have connections to successful people that your looking to network with.”
Do you see the idea behind this method? Even if you don’t have any business credibility you can always use someone else’s.
What is absolutely essential is you fully branding yourself as a leader as soon as possible. It’s a must you have a systematic approach and make sure your team duplicates this.
